Although the voice of Andy Serkis is heard in the trailer, we haven't yet seen his face. New characters that we're yet to meet are played by Lupita Nyong'o, Gwendoline Christie, Domhnall Gleeson, and Max von Sydow. Additionally, while the probable bad guy Kylo Ren is in blue, so too is rebel pilot Poe Dameron and droid BB-8. Finn, Rey, the Millennium Falcon and the X-Wings (all goodies) are in red, but so are the Stormtroopers (traditionally baddies). Interestingly, some of the trading cards are blue and some red, harking back to the colouring of the first and second wave of Topps cards issued to promote the original film in 1977. Does the lack of a "Darth" in his name give a clue to his background? The name of the character wielding the controversial but very cool triple-bladed lightsaber is Kylo Ren. Stalking a snowy forest in the trailer is the suspected villain of the piece, who many speculate is played by Adam Driver.

Joining the Emperor, Darth Vader and Darth Maul in the pantheon of "Star Wars" baddies is Kylo Ren. The cute bowling-ball droid, which could well be the most in-demand toy of Christmas 2015, is called BB-8. The rebel X-Wing pilot played by Oscar Isaac is Poe Dameron. With her surname held back, could it be Rey is related to one of the original characters. Either way, fans will probably have to wait for the director’s commentary of the film to find out more about Abrams’ decision-making.The speeder-riding heroine played by Daisy Ridley is called Rey. Finn is mentally affected by the loss of his. Finn uses a force howl to try and stun Kylo while Jinn charges in. However, it’s more likely the positioning of Kylo’s body is simply that of the angle or a variation of takes rather than confirmation of his survival. The fight starts out with Finn and Jinn witnessing Kylo behead Rey and TPM Obi Wan. This has caused fans to speculate that perhaps Kylo wasn’t supposed to die in Episode IX after all. A fan theory (via Reddit) suggests that the scene is actually reversed and fans have speculated that the way Kylo’s hair falls gives it away. After sharing a kiss, Kylo falls to the ground and dies, his body disappearing. One such scene involves Kylo’s actual death. That said, the case of the missing dialogue is part of a broader wave of fan speculation that holds other scenes from Rise of Skywalker were altered from their original versions. After all, there’s a plethora of reasons why movies are cut or altered that might not have anything to do with changing the story. It’s also possible the words were ultimately deemed unnecessary, so Abrams muted the dialogue altogether. Abrams felt it more intimate for the moment to remain between the two characters. Though fans are disappointed that Rey’s dialogue was potentially removed, it’s possible the silence is intentional.
